Some figures I heard in India
- 2 million Indians have broadband access at home
- 46 million access the internet via their mobile phone
- 9 million new mobile subscribers monthly
- There are only 55 public WiFi hotspots in all of India*
This made me think the onset of India’s massive internet adoption will resemble nothing like America’s initally. Every home won’t have a Dell desktop, DSL connection, and World of Warcraft obsessed teenager! For most Indians, their mobile browser will be their first and only interaction with the web.
Entrepreneurial hunch: Invest in multiplayer mobile games. Hottest title in 2010? World Cup Cricket Xtreme.
